3 Yotes Hit NAIA Indoor Qualifying Marks
CALDWELL, Idaho -- A trio of College of Idaho runners hit NAIA automatic qualifying standards on Day 2 of the Boise State Team Challenge, inside the Jackson's Indoor Facility in Nampa.
Early in the day, true freshman Hillary Holt broke the school record in the mile run with her fourth-place finish, with her time of 5:05.78 hitting the NAIA "A" standard. Sprinter Jasmine Sibert continued to lower her own school record in the 60-hurdles, placing seventh in 9.45 seconds.
On the men's side, Paul Sartin had a quality run in the mile, finishing in fifth-place - hitting the NAIA "A" standard with his time of 4:17.34. Late in the afternoon, sophomore Greg Montgomery earned himself a berth to Nationals, placing fifth in the 3,000-meters in a NAIA "A" time of 8:40.16 - breaking the C of I school record.
Four other men's school records fell - as Austin Basterrechea broke his own marks in the 60-hurdles (9.52) as part of a record-setting performance in the heptathlon (4,357), while thrower Travis Sharp upped his marks in the shot put (42-9) and weight throw (45-7).
