Concordia Pair Sweep Red Lion Baseball Honors
PORTLAND, Ore. -- A pair of players from Concordia University, third baseman Riley Tubbs and pitcher Josh O'Gorman, have been named Red Lion Player and Pitcher of the Week, respecitvely.
Player – Concordia University’s Riley Tubbs, a 6-2 senior third baseman from Renton, Wash., has been named the Red Lion Baseball Player of the Week. Tubbs went 9 for 22 (.409) at the plate at Lewis-Clark State’s Red Lion Tournament, helping the Cavs post a 3-2 record. He had four extra-base hits, including two triples. He hit a go-ahead two-run triple in the Cavs’ first win against College of Idaho, then came back to hit a game-tying RBI single in the fifth in an eventual 8-4 win over the Yotes.
Honorable mention: Izaac Garsez, College of Idaho.
Pitcher – Concordia University’s Josh O’Gorman, a 6-6 senior pitcher from Culver, Ore., has been named the Red Lion Baseball Pitcher of the Week. In his lone appearance at Lewis-Clark State’s Red Lion Tournament, O’Gorman spaced four hits and struck out seven batters in an 8-1 non-conference win over Corban University. O’Gorman worked seven innings and did not allow a run.
