Eastern Oregon's Robbie Haynie, who recorded the NAIA's best mark in the heptathlon last weekend, is one of four CCC student-athletes to earn Red Lion Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors.
4 Earn Track & Field Red Lion Honors
PORTLAND, Ore. -- Four student-athletes -- two from Eastern Oregon and two from Concordia -- have earned Red Lion Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors.
Men’s Indoor Track & Field
Track – Eastern Oregon University’s Ryan Booth, a junior from Post Falls, Idaho, has been named the Red Lion Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week. Booth broke his own school record in the 800 meters at the Boise State Team Invitational, clocking a winning time of 1:51.56. Booth’s time, the best in the NAIA this season, is below the automatic qualifying standard for the NAIA Championships.

Field – Eastern Oregon University’s Robbie Haynie, a junior from Nampa, Idaho, has been named the Red Lion Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week. At the Boise State Team Invitational, Haynie won five of seven events on his way to a mark of 5,270 and the individual crown in the heptathlon. His point total is the best in the NAIA this season. In addition to breaking the school mark in the heptathlon, he set a new school standard in the pole vault (17-2 3/4).

Women’s Indoor Track & Field
Track – Concordia University’s Alice Taylor has been named the Red Lion Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week. Taylor set a school record in the 3,000 meters (9:56.50) and nabbed her second NAIA automatic qualifying time while competing in the University of Washington Indoor Open. Taylor crossed the line 30 seconds below the NAIA ‘A’ standard and nearly 10 seconds faster than the previous school record.

Field – Concordia University’s Kayla Xavier, a junior from Modesto, Calif., has been named the Red Lion Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week. In her Concordia debut, Xavier posted a pair of NAIA ‘A’ qualifiers, including tossing the NAIA’s top mark in the shot put (46-7 ¼). She also added a mark of 51-4 ¼ in the weight throw, which ranks 24th in the NAIA.
