FINAL RESULTS

NAMPA, Idaho – Eastern Oregon University track and field athletes Robbie Haynie, Karlee Coffey, and Ryan Booth all hit NAIA auto marks and won their respective events Saturday at the Boise State Team Invitational.

DJ Flores ran an automatic mark for NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships as well in the men’s 3,000 meters.

Haynie continued his romp in the Heptathlon in the second day of that competition. Overall he won five of the seven events his way to the overall meet title. Along the way, he put up one of the best scores in the NAIA this year and actually broke two school records in the process. Haynie broke the EOU record in the Heptathlon, formerly 5026 by Chris Hoppie in 2008, with a final total of 5270 points.

Haynie also had an outstanding performance in the Pole Vault where he surpassed his own recently-set school record of 17’ ¾” with a jump of 17’ 2 ¾”. The junior was already the NAIA leader in the Pole Vault.

Dustin Cloud gave himself a shot at making the field of 16 at the NAIA National Championships when he tied his Heptathlon score of 4510 points. Cloud scored the exact same amount to finish 9th at the National meet in 2010.

Coffey ran to a school record in the women’s 3,000 meters on her way to an NAIA Auto mark and the win over primarily NCAA Div. 1 opponents. Coffey’s time of 10:11.47 surpasses All-American performer Kelsey Jones’ mark of 10:21.13 back in 2002.

On the men’s side, Booth broke his own school record in the 800 meters with a winning time of 1:51.56. Booth set the previous indoor record of 1:52.16 to win this meet last year. Booth’s time was well below the NAIA Auto qualifying mark.

Flores joined Booth on the Auto list for the Mountaineer men with an Auto mark in the 3,000 meter run at 8:38.70 for fourth place.

A pair of Mountaineer women just missed hitting the NAIA Auto Qualifying mark when Ashlee Michelson and Anne Barnett threw identical marks of 42’ 3.25”. Those marks were a mere ½ inch off the Auto mark. Both were indoor bests and Michelson’s was a life time best.

Eastern travels to Pullman, Wash. for the Washington State Indoor Open next Saturday. It will be the final tune-up for the Mountaineers before traveling to Geneva, Ohio for the NAIA Indoor National Championships.
