KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Eastern Oregon University track and field student-athlete Robbie Haynie has been named the NAIA National Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week. It is the second time this season Haynie has earned the national honor.

Haynie won five of the seven heptathlon events on his way to the overall meet title at the Boise State University Team Challenge. The junior put up the best heptathlon score in the NAIA this season, and  broke a pair of school records in the process.

The Nampa, Idaho native broke the EOU record in the heptathlon, formerly 5026 by Chris Hoppie in 2008, with a final total of 5270 points. Haynie also had an outstanding performance in the pole vault where he surpassed his own recently-set school record of 17' ¾" with a jump of 17' 2 ¾". The Mesa Junior College transfer was already the NAIA leader in the event.

Haynie was named the Cascade Collegiate Conference Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week Monday. He has competed in two meets and been named the conference and national indoor field athlete of the week each time.

Haynie and the Mounties travel to Pullman, Wash., this weekend to compete in the Washington State University Indoor Open.
