WALLA WALLA, Wash. - The College of Idaho opened up a six-game weekend road trip with a doubleheader sweep of Whitman College, winning 15-9 and 9-1, at Borleske Stadium.

The Coyotes (3-3) jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the opener, as Izaac Garsez rapped an RBI single, followed by a Jesse Dodd RBI double – part of a three-run fourth inning. The Yotes would bust the game wide open with a five-run fifth inning, keyed by a three-run homer from Kyle Douglas and a two-run Todd Griffiths double.

Brian Hildebrand picked up the win, tossing two innings of relief, striking out three. Douglas went 2-for-4 with three runs scored, Dodd went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI, Griffiths went 3-for-4 with two doubles, and Tanner Hodges went 2-for-5 with two runs scored for the Yotes.

Game 2 was dominated by starter Bobby Wassmann, as the senior tossed a complete game seven-hitter, striking out nine.

Hodges was the offensive standout, knocking in four runs in the win – including a two-run triple in the seventh. Griffiths went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Yotes.

The two teams will play a second doubleheader tomorrow at 11 a.m. (PT)
