Oregon Tech Falls to No. 21 Concordia
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - No. 21 ranked Concordia University used a 16-3 run to open the second half and never looked back cruising to an 85-74 win tonight over Oregon Tech in Cascade Conference women's basketball action.
Oregon Tech scored the first five points of the game before CU tied the contest at 7-7. OIT would eventually move out to a 15-11 advantage with 14 minutes on the clock.
A Concordia triple with 12 minutes on the clock gave the lead back to the Cavs, 17-15, and the visitors never trailed again. CU went up by as many as six points, 25-19, but Tech’s Jana Parker would tie it up at 30-30 on a layup with just over three minutes remaining in the opening period.
Back-to-back treys by CU’s Rachel Scarpelli gave the Cavs momentum, and a six point lead heading to intermission.
The Concordia defense forced eight Oregon Tech turnovers over the next eight minutes of the second period, and turned that into a 16-3 run, to lead by as many as 19 points.
Oregon Tech cut their deficit to 10 points, on three occasions, but never could get closer as Concordia would take the contest 85-74.
Four Owls finished in double figures led by 14 points each from Morgan Hofman and Brittany Cherry. Kassi Conditt and Karissa Dixon added 12 apiece.
Courtney May led all scorers with 23 points for Concordia, followed by 15 from Danielle Clauson.
Oregon Tech drops to 10-19 on the season and 2-15 in the CCC. Concordia moves to 21-8 overall and 13-4 in the conference standings.
