Pairings Set for CCC Women's Hoop Tourney
PORTLAND, Ore. – Concordia University and Corban University shared the 2010-11 Cascade Collegiate Conference regular season women’s basketball crown and will enter the upcoming eight-team CCC Tournament as the top two seeds. Both teams finished their 18-game regular season conference slates with 13-5 records.
Concordia earned the No. 1 seed in the tournament by virtue of its two-game series sweep of the Warriors. The Cavaliers, by earning the top seed, secured one of the CCC’s two automatic bids to next month’s NAIA Championships in Sioux City, Iowa. The winner of the conference tournament (or the runner-up, should Concordia win it) will secure the CCC’s second automatic berth to the national tournament, which is scheduled for March 9-15.
Northwest University is seeded third and College of Idaho fourth. The top four seeds will host CCC quarterfinal playoff games Tuesday night at 7 p.m. Semifinals are set for Friday, Feb. 25, with the championship game slated for Monday, Feb. 28.
Warner Pacific, which finished in a tie for fifth with Eastern Oregon, won a tiebreaker with the Mountaineers to earn the tournament’s No. 5 seed. EOU is seeded sixth, Southern Oregon seventh, and Northwest Christian eighth.
Seeding was based on regular season conference finish.
Concordia is sharing the CCC regular season title for the second time in three seasons. Corban secured a share of its second CCC title in program history and first since sharing the crown with Eastern Oregon in 2006-07.
