OIT Seeded No. 1 in Men's Hoop Tournament
PORTLAND, Ore. – Preseason favorite Oregon Tech will be the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Cascade Collegiate Conference men’s basketball tournament after winning the regular season conference title.
The Hustlin’ Owls, under the direction of veteran coach Danny Miles, are seeking their third consecutive conference tournament title.
Eastern Oregon, the regular season runner-up to OIT, is seeded No. 2. Warner Pacific, which tied for third place with Northwest (Wash.), is seeded No. 3 after winning a tiebreaker with the Eagles, a team the Knights swept in two meetings this season.
The top four seeds will host quarterfinal playoff games Wednesday at 7 p.m.
College of Idaho is seeded No. 5, Corban No. 6, Southern Oregon No. 7 and Concordia No. 8. SOU and Concordia tied for seventh place, but the Raiders won the tiebreaker by virtue of having a better record in CCC play vs. teams that finished .500 or better.
The winner of the CCC tournament will earn the conference’s second automatic bid to next month’s national championships, which are slated for March 9-15 in Point Lookout, Mo. If Oregon Tech wins the CCC tournament, the conference’s second automatic bid will be awarded to the tournament runner-up.
