Softball Red Lion Honorees: Plummer, Gunter

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Oregon Tech's Jess Plummer and Concordia's Allison Gunter, who together helped the two CCC softball programs go 10-0 at the Northwest Cup in Clackamas last weekend, have been named the Red Lion Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively. 

Player – Oregon Tech’s Jess Plummer, a 5-9 sophomore from Eugene, Ore., has been named the Red Lion Softball Player of the Week. In six games, all wins for the Owls, Plummer batted .619 with one double, three homers and 15 RBI’s. She had four multi-hit games as OIT improved its season record to 7-2.

Honorable mention: Stephanie Nipper, Corban; Sarah Jackson, Eastern Oregon; Ali Paz, Concordia; Cassie Bishop, Northwest Christian; Nickayla Skinner, College of Idaho; Rayna Okimoto, Southern Oregon.

Pitcher – Concordia’s Allison Gunter, a 5-3 freshman from San Diego, Calif., has been named the Red Lion Softball Pitcher of the Week. On Saturday, Gunter came on in relief in two games and notched wins in both outings to help the Cavaliers to a 4-0 record in their own tournament. In nine innings of work, Gunter allowed seven hits, no earned runs, walked two and struck out nine. She also was 8 of 14 (.571) at the plate, scored a team-high six runs and was 4-for-4 in stolen base attempts during the tourney.
