NAMPA, Idaho—At the mid-point of the indoor season, Concordia tallied four NAIA automatic qualifiers and added three provisional mark at the Bronco Open hosted by Boise State University on Saturday.
Hitting NAIA ‘A’ standards were Eunice Makinde in the women’s 60-meter hurdles, Sami Andrews in the women’s 3,000, Junia Limage in the women’s 800 and Ben Cogdill in the men’s pole vault.
Notching provisional marks were Stephanie Persaud in the women’s 60-meter dash, Branko Djuricic in the triple jump and Anthony Lantz in the shot put.

“I think we are where we want to be,” CU head coach Randy Dalzell said. “We will be looking at some more sprinters and some relays so we hope to add a few more qualifiers with one more full meet coming up.”
Makinde, who reached the ‘B’ standard in the 60 hurdles earlier in the year with a season-best 9.23, placed fourth overall with a 9.04 in the finals. Limage slashed three seconds off her season-best in the 800 with a 2:17.74 while taking third place.

Moving up to the 3,000, Andria Scheese was runner-up with a 10:11.10 and was followed by Sami Andrews in third place with a 10:24.71 to earn the NAIA ‘A’ standard.

On the men’s side, the Cavaliers earned two provisional marks and a single auto mark in the field events.

Ben Cogdill soared 15-11 in the pole vault in a winning performance which put the senior transfer into No. 2 on the school’s all-time performance list and Anthony Lantz tossed a 50-9 1/2 in the shot put to post the school’s second all-time distance in the event to secure povisional status. ranko Djuricic landed a half of on inch shy of a school record in the triple jump with a leap of 47-5 to earn an auto bid.

Three Cavs set four school records on Saturday as Jameson Futter broke his own school mark in the men’s 60-meter dash and the long jump, Trevor Schwanz In the men’s 200 and Stephanie Persaud sliced into her own all-time mark in the women’s 60.

Futter placed eighth in the 60 with a 7.15 but posted a 7.10 in the prelims to shatter the previous school record of 7.37 which Futter shared with Curtis Parrish.
“Jameson had a great day,” Dalzell said. “He is way ahead of where he has been the past couple of years as he has been healthy and his speed is coming back.”
Schwanz lowered his personal records in both the 60 and the 200 with times of 7.41 and 23.21 with the 200 mark bettering the school record of 23.35. Other sprinters joining Futter and Schwanz with personal records included Chris Andres and Chris Wilson. Andres lowered his all-time best in the 60 from 7.58 to 7.46 and in the 200 from 24.44 to 24.37 while Wilson lowered his 60 mark to 7.62.
Competing in the shot, Ismael Osorio established a season-best with a 48-10 1/4 heave; bettering his 48-6 3/4 set at the UW Preview on January.
