LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon University women’s basketball team knocked off its rival, The College of Idaho, behind a 20-point and 12-rebound performance from Rosebud Guthrie Friday, 69-57.

The Mountaineers (15-8) (7-7) were paced by Guthrie’s third career double-double. The Zillah, Wash. native scored a career-high 20 points on 8 of 17 shooting from the field. Kyle Miller and Samantha Flett added 16 points and 15 points. EOU finished 40 percent from the field, 7 for 16 from behind the perimeter, and 18 of 24 from the free-throw line.

The College of Idaho began the game with a 4-0 lead, but the Mountaineers responded with a run of its own to take the lead. The lead exchanged several times in the first half until EOU took a 33-28 advantage into halftime. Eastern had its largest lead in the game with 5:09 remaining in regulation, 59-43.

The Yotes shot 39 percent from the field, 6 of 16 from three-point range, and 7 for 14 from the free-throw line. The Mountaineers had a 45-25 rebounding advantage over C of I. EOU threw 17 assists to The College of Idaho’s 12. Eastern committed 12 turnovers, while the Yotes had 10.

Eastern Oregon’s victory ended a six-game losing streak to its rival. Nicole Gall led The College of Idaho (13-11) (8-6) with 20 points. The senior was 8 of 19 from the field, threw five assists, and grabbed six rebounds. Katelin Shannon added 13 points.

The Mountaineers host Corban University (14-10) (9-5) Feb. 11 for their next game. The Warriors beat EOU, 75-64, on Jan. 15 in Salem.
