Coyote skiers win six national championships

SUN VALLEY, Idaho - The College of Idaho ski program recorded its most prolific national championships in the nearly 50 year history of the program - as the Coyotes won five team titles at the 2011 USCSA National Championships.

The C of I men's freestyle team won a trio of titles - the Slopestyle event on Friday, the Halfpipe on Saturday, and the Freestyle Combined, while the Lady Yotes claimed the Freestyle Halfpipe event on Saturday and the Freestyle Combined.

Both teams also had a Top-3 finish in the Skier-X on Thursday, the Lady Yotes placing second, the Coyote men, third.

2011 marked the most team titles by The C of I in program history - as the 1985 and 1990 seasons saw the Yotes win three national championships.

Individually, the team had 21 All-America performances - led by Kelley Fitzpatrick, who became the 17th individual national champion by winning the Women's Skier-X competition on Thursday. She also earned All-America honors in the Halfpipe and in the Freestyle Combined.

Three other Lady Yotes earned All-America honors - Stephanie Dunn in the Halfpipe, Skier-X, and Combined, Sarah Silva, who earned honors in the Snowboard Slopestyle and Halfpipe, and Nina Hirner in the Alpine Combined

The Coyote men were led by Cliff Mailloux, who earned All-America honors in the Slopestyle, Halfpipe, and Combined, as did Skylar Herbert and Zach Tomlinson. Jack Lewis earned honors in the Slopestyle and Combined, while Travis Morris was honored in the Halfpipe.
