FINAL RESULTS

SALEM, Ore. – On the final day of the dual meet between a pair of cross town rivals Friday at McCullough Stadium, Corban's men's and women's track & field team captured nine individual and two team titles and qualified 17 additional athletes for this year's Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships.

In the final event tally, Corban fell to NCAA Division III member Willamette, 18-16, over the two days as the Warriors grabbed a combined 10 victories on the final day.

On the women's side, sophomore Christy Mosier (Bend, Ore.) led the way with victories in the discus and shot put thanks to a pair of CCC qualifying marks.

Friday's events began with the shot put, as Mosier won the event with a toss of 12.07 meters (39-feet, 7.25-inches). The second-year Warrior was joined by fellow sophomore Rian Miller (Plummer, Idaho) with a CCC automatic qualifying throw of 10.41 meters (34-feet, 2-inches), as she finished second overall. Also in the shot put were freshman Olivia James (Chugiak, Alaska) and junior Amy Renfro (Albany, Ore.), as the duo finished fourth and fifth respectively with throws of 8.88 meters (29-feet, 1.75-inches) and 6.48 meters (21-feet, 3.35-inches).

Happening at the same time as the shot put, sophomore Kelsey Childers (Milton-Freewater, Ore.) finished second in the long jump with a leap of 4.28 meters (14-feet, 0.50-inches). Childers' jump was a mere 0.01 meters short of automatically qualifying for the CCC Championships, while Renfro finished third with a jump of 3.85 meters (12-feet, 7.75-inches).

Immediately following the long jump, freshman Rebecca Cox (Parma, Idaho) stepped up and won the triple jump with a leap of 9.90 meters (32-feet, 7.75-inches) to automatically qualify for the CCC Championships. Also competing in the triple jump for Corban was Childers and fellow sophomore Eliya Kohl (Salem, Ore.), but neither of them successfully completed a jump in four attempts.

On the track, sophomore Becca Stanton (Springfield, Ore.) won the 100 meter dash in a time of 13.58 as she outlasted Willamette's Robin Smith by a mere 0.07 seconds.

In the 200 meter dash, freshman Hannah Whitehead (Lebanon, Ore.) and junior Maddie Parsons (Klamath Falls, Ore.) finished third and fourth with times of 26.94 and 27.21, respectively, to qualify for this season's conference championship meet. Renfro and Cox also ran for the Warriors finishing sixth and seventh with times of 29.02 and 29.50, respectively.

The 800 meter run featured three Warriors – junior Courtney Welling (Springfield, Ore.), freshman Mesha Perkins (Sherwood, Ore.), and freshman Karlen Yallup (Warm Springs, Ore.) – that finished 1-2-3, as Welling qualified for the CCC Championships with a time of 2:25.00. Perkins and Yallup turned in times of 2:37.88 and 2:38.74, respectively, in the two-lap race around the track.

Freshman Christi Schmitz (North Pole, Alaska) would grab Corban's fifth victory of the afternoon with a win in the 5,000 meter run thanks to a CCC-qualifying time of 18:54.76. Along with Schmitz, sophomore Lauren Cross (Missoula, Mt.) and freshman Audrey Correa (Riverside, Calif.) rounded out the Warrior runners with times of 19:52.20 and 21:51.67, respectively.

The final race of the evening was the 4x400 meter relay, as Corban's 'A' team defeated the Warriors' 'B' team with a time of 4:14.06. Corban's 'A' team that consisted of junior Jocelynn Smith (Yakima, Wash.), senior Bianca Davis (Ontario, Ore.), sophomore Emilee Grubb (Bozeman, Mt.), and Whitehead outlasted the squad's 'B' team that was made up of Cox, Parsons, Renfro, and Yallup by nearly 20 seconds.

In the day's opening event, freshman James Myrvold (Sandy, Ore.) won the long jump with a CCC Championship-qualifying leap of 6.50 meters (21-feet, 4-inches). Along with Myrvold, sophomore Joash Pangilinan (Honolulu, Hawaii) finished second thanks to an automatic qualifying jump of 6.27 meters (20-feet, 7-inches).

Myrvold would registered his third win of the meet in the triple jump, as the first-year Warrior turned in a CCC qualifying leap of 12.91 meters (42-feet, 4.25-inches) en route to earning the victory. Fellow freshman Jordan Hatfield (Heppner, Ore.) would also meet the conference's minimum qualification mark with a jump of 12.37 meters (40-feet, 7-inches), while Pangilinan rounded out a clean sweep in the event with a CCC qualifying jump of 12.36 meters (40-feet, 6.75-inches).

At the same times as the long and triple jump, freshman Zach Conlee (Milton-Freewater, Ore.) was competing in the shot put and turned in a third place finish with a CCC qualifying throw of 11.90 meters (39-feet, 0.50-inches). Fellow freshman Kent Wilson (Bonney Lake, Wash.) also threw for the Warriors in the shot put, as he finished fourth with a toss of 10.92 meters (35-feet, 10-inches).

Sophomore David Brown (Meridian, Idaho) would earn Corban's third win of the afternoon with a victory in the 3,000 meter steeplechase thanks to a CCC qualifying time of 9:58.98. Finishing right behind Brown was senior Jason Hardrath (Baker, Ore.), who also turned in a conference qualifying time of 10:33.24. Rounding out Corban's runners in the event was sophomore John Trimble (Vancouver, Wash.) with a fifth place showing thanks to a time 11:00.33.

In the 100 meter dash, Pangilinan and Hatfield would finish fourth and fifth with times of 11.81 and 11.97, respectively.

The 200 meter dash would feature four Warriors – freshman Kyle Croft (Spokane, Wash.), Myrvold, sophomore Seth James (Snyder, Colo.), and freshman Chris McGehee (Jefferson, Ore.) – that finished third, fourth, sixth, and seventh, respectively. Croft would lead the charge with a time of 24.09, while Myrvold (24.33), James (24.42), and McGehee (25.64) all broke the 26-second mark.

In the 400 meter dash, James led Corban's contingent with a runner-up finish with a conference qualifying time of 51.19. Along with James, senior David Anderson (Salem, Ore.), sophomore Bryce Petersen (Salem, Ore.), and sophomore Jefferson Forrest (Springfield, Ore.) rounded out the final four spots with times of 52.17, 52.76, and 58.22, respectively.

Senior Ben Search (Battle Ground, Wash.) would secure an automatic qualifying time in the 800 meter run with a runner-up showing that turned in a time 1:58.37, while freshman Josh Dyer (Tokatee, Ore.) finished fifth in the event with a time of 2:20.05.

In the 1,500 meter run, sophomore Taylor Adrian (Portland, Ore.) and junior Caleb Goins (Scio, Ore.) finished fourth and fifth thanks to times of 4:07.45 and 4:11.18, respectively. Adrian's time was a mere 0.40 seconds off the CCC qualifying mark, as the second-year Warrior ran only his second race of the season in a non-stop rain.

The event's 5,000 meter run featured one Warrior – freshman Jay Jacobsen (Sequim, Wash.) – that finished fifth overall with a time of 18:13.71.

In the final race of the evening, Corban swept the 4x400 meter relay as the 'A' team defeated the 'B' team thanks to a time of 3:32.58. The Warriors' winning team featured Anderson, Petersen, Goins, and Croft, while Corban's second squad showcased James, Forrest, Adrian, and Dyer. The difference in the race was just over 16 seconds, asthe Warriors' first squad turned in the fifth best time in program history.

Corban's men's and women's track & field team will return to the oval on Saturday, March 26th, at the second annual Club Northwest Invitational beginning at 10:00 a.m. in Seattle, Washington on the campus of the University of Washington.
