Garrard Scores Victory In 400
Southern Oregon freshman Mikayla Garrard's victory in the 400 highlighted Southern Oregon's day at a weather-shortened Hornet Invitational at Sacramento State.
Garrard ran a collegiate career best 58.50 to edged NCAA Division I and Sacrament State star Brianna Nelson (58.54) for the victory.
The Raiders also got some impressive performances in the throws events.
Michael Ruppert finished fifth in the shot put with a throw of 44-08.25. Max Perry finished sixth in the hammer with a heave of 168-08.
Also for the men, Sullivan Stevens and Dennis Olstedt finished fourth and fifth in the 110 hurdles. Stevens finished in 15.11 and Olstedt finished in 15.19.
For the SOU women, Denali Cox finished ninth in the 100 in 12.82.
