WILDER, Idaho - Tyler Falk went wire-to-wire to claim medalist honors, as his Northwest Christian squad claimed the men’s championship of The College of Idaho Invitational at River Bend Golf Course.
Falk, a freshman from Springfield, Ore., carded a final round 72 to finish the 54-hole tournament at six-under par (210), eight full strokes ahead of teammate Brent McKee (218). It marked the first-ever Cascade Conference team title for the Beacons.
NCU finished with a team score of 893 – eight strokes ahead of second-place Concordia. The Cavaliers tried to make it interesting in the final 18 holes, carding the best team round of the day (296). Will Snow shot an even-par 72, helping him to a third-place overall finish (221), while Taylor Schmidt took fifth (224) and Jed Dalton seventh (228).
Corban held off host C of I for third-place, 33-strokes behind NCU. The Warriors were led by Joey Duwe and Steve Landis, who were tied for seventh (228). The Coyotes, who shot a final round 309, saw Kyle DeLorey shoot a final round 75 to help him to a sixth-place overall finish (227).
Warner Pacific finished in fifth – 93 strokes off the pace, but had a Top-5 finisher in Andrew Johnson, who took fourth (223).
The teams will next head to Diamond Wood Golf Course in Monroe, Ore., for the Cascade Conference Championships, April 11-12.
