WILDER, Idaho - Sara Molyneux held on for a two-shot victory, helping the Concordia University women’s team to the title of the 2011 College of Idaho Invitational at River Bend Golf Course.
Molyneux earned medalist honors for the second-straight Cascade Conference tournament, shooting a final round 83 to hold off a trio of golfers with her 54-hole total of 236. Teammates Sunshine Powers and Holly Speer finished two strokes off the pace at 238, with Speer recording the lowest round of the day with a five-over 77. The Cavaliers finished the tournament with a team score of 952 – recording the low score in each of the three rounds.
The host Lady Yotes finished second – 26 strokes behind CU, with Trish Gibbens leading the way, shooting a final round 80 to pull into the tie for second (238). Baylee Borchers matched Gibbens 80 this morning, finishing in sixth (243), while Jocie Cracroft took seventh (247).
Northwest Christian placed third, thanks to a seventh-place finish by Sarah Crofcheck (247), but were 186 strokes off the pace. Warner Pacific finished fourth (1148) and Corban fifth (1176).
The teams will next head to Diamond Woods Golf Course in Monroe, Ore., for the CCC Championships, April 11-12.
