At the season-opening Erik Anderson Memorial Icebreaker at Linfield College, 18 members of Corban's men's and women's track & field teams qualified for the upcoming CCC Championship Meet.
Corban Qualifies 19 at Season-Opening Icebreaker

McMINNVILLE, Ore. – At the season-opening event, 19 members of Corban's men's and women's track & field team met the minimum qualifying marks for the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships Saturday at the Erik Anderson Memorial Icebreaker hosted by Linfield College.
On the women's side, Corban's 4x400 meter relay team brought home the first medal of the season thanks to winning the event in a time of 4:02.53, as the four-person team consisted of junior Maddie Parsons, senior Bianca Davis, sophomore Emilee Grubb, and freshman Hannah Whitehead. The 'A' squad outlasted seven other teams that included Corban's 'B' team to win the race by more than four seconds.
The Warriors also had female competitors in 14 events today with sophomore Lauren Cross posting the best individual time with a runner-up finish in the 3,000 meter steeplechase thanks to a time of 13:00.23 to qualify for the CCC Championships in May.

* Maddie Parson - 100 meter hurdles (17.64)
* Jocelynn Smith - 400 meter hurdles (1:09.22)
* Abigail Van Hoogen - High Jump (1.57 meters)
* Eliya Kohl - Long Jump (4.79 meters) & Triple Jump (10.41 meters)
* Rebecca Cox - Triple Jump (10.04 meters)
* Rian Miller - Shot Put (10.25 meters) & Discus (34.11 meters)
Also competing for Corban was junior Courtney Welling and sophomore Amy Renfro in the 800 meter run. Welling finished third overall with a time of 2:29.13, while Renfro clocked a time of 2:31.65 that was good enough for seventh place individually.
On the men's side, five Warrior individuals qualified for the upcoming CCC Championships in May led by sophomore Joash Panglinan with a fourth place finish in the long jump thanks to a leap of 6.44 meters.

* James Myrvold - High Jump (1.88 meters)

Also competing Saturday for Corban's men's team was sophomore David Brown in the 5,000 meter run, as the second-year Warrior finished 10th overall thanks to a time of 16:24.89. Corban's 4x400 meter relay team that featured Anderson, sophomore Bryce Petersen, Myrvold, and senior Ben Search finished third overall with a time of 3:28.38.
Corban's track & field team will return to the oval on Thursday, March 17th, at the annual two-day Charles Bowles Spring Break Classic hosted by Willamette University. The opening day's events will begin at 4:00 p.m. at McCullough Stadium in Salem.
