7 Earn Red Lion Player of the Week Honors
PORTLAND, Ore. -- The following CCC student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period Feb. 28-March 6.
Baseball
Player – Concordia University’s Odie Hollingshed, a 5-11 senior center fielder from Portland, Ore., has been named the Red Lion Baseball Player of the Week. In a four-game series vs. fourth-ranked Lewis-Clark State, Hollingshed batted .300 with two homers and six runs batted in. He helped Concordia to a series split with the Warriors.

Pitcher – Concordia University’s Larsen Kohler, a 6-3 junior from Sodatna, Alaska, has been named the Red Lion Baseball Pitcher of the Week. In two appearances vs. No. 4-ranked Lewis-Clark State, Kohler allowed just one hit in seven innings. He picked up his first win of the season with four innings of relief work in the Cavs’ 9-8, extra-inning victory Sunday.

Softball
Player – Oregon Tech’s Ashleigh Larson, a 5-10 junior infielder from Central Point, Ore., has been named the Red Lion Softball Player of the Week. In four games last weekend, Larson batted .462 and drove in seven runs, including four in a 10-4 win over Simpson University. Larson had six hits, including a pair of home runs.

Men’s Outdoor Track & Field
Track – Southern Oregon University’s David Laney, a senior from Portland, Ore., has been named the Red Lion Men’s Track Athlete of the Week. In his first action since the cross country season, Laney clocked a time of 14:44.92 in the 5,000 meters at the Cal State Stanislaus Dusty Invitational. His mark was good enough to qualify him for the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships. It is also the fourth-fastest time in school history.
Honorable mention: David Anderson, Corban; Crosby Green, Northwest Christian.
Field – Corban University’s Joash Pangilinan, a sophomore from Honolulu, Hawaii, has been named the Red Lion Men’s Field Athlete of the Week. Pangilinan qualified for the CCC Championships in the long jump, registering a mark of 6.44 meters to finish fourth in the event at the Linfield Icebreaker.
Women’s Outdoor Track & Field
Track – Northwest Christian University’s Stephanie Hescock, a junior from Drain, Ore., has been named the Red Lion Women’s Track Athlete of the Week. At the Linfield Icebreaker, Hescock finished second overall and first among collegians in the 10,000 meters, clocking a time of 37:02. Her school-record time bested the NAIA automatic qualifying standard.
Honorable mention: Lauren Cross, Corban.
Field – Southern Oregon University’s Holly Haga, a sophomore from Central Point, Ore., has been named the Red Lion Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. At the Cal State Stanislaus Dusty Invitational, Haga finished third in the discus with a mark of 137-9.
