PORTLAND, Ore. –
Lewis-Clark State scored runs in five different innings as the Warriors defeated Concordia 9-1 in an NAIA West baseball game Friday afternoon at Joe Etzel Field.

With the loss, Concordia falls to 7-18 overall, 2-11 in the NAIA West. Lewis-Clark State improves to 18-6 overall and 8-5 in regional play.

The Warriors scored one run in the first, two in the third, one more in the fourth, three in the sixth and two in the seventh en route to the victory. Concordia’s one run came in the fifth, when Jared Young singled and scored on Tim Reavis’ double down the left field line.

The Warriors pulled away in the sixth, as Brian Gaylord hit a three-run home run to put L-C State up 7-1. Their final two runs came in the seventh, when CU’s Zac Manor hit three batters and walked two more in the inning, allowing two runs to score on no hits.

Tyrell Poggemeyer picked up the win for the Warriors, throwing seven innings of one-run ball, limiting the Cavs to five hits with five strikeouts. Tyson Kisselburg took the loss for Concordia, yielding five earned runs on 11 hits in six innings.

Curt Cosby finished the game 3-for-4 for the Cavaliers, the only CU player to tally more than one hit in the contest. Alfonso Casillas finished 3-for-5 with a couple runs batted in for L-C State, while Gaylord finished 2-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored. Trent Bridges added a pair of hits for the Warriors and Connor Moore scored two runs in the contest.

The teams return to action tomorrow when they will face off in a doubleheader at Joe Etzel Field starting at noon.
