MONROE, Ore. - Concordia University captured their fourth straight title on Tuesday, beating out The College of Idaho by 31 strokes at the Cascade Collegiate Conference Women’s Golf Championships presented by Diamond Woods Golf Course.
Concordia fired a final score of 960, defeating the Yotes (991) by 31 strokes. Northwest Christian University took third place at 1108, followed by Corban University (1211) and Warner Pacific College, who registered a team score of 394 in the third round but did not produce a complete team over the first two rounds.
Trish Gibbens (pictured) of The College of Idaho won individual medalist honors, firing a third-round 73 to climb back from three shots down to win by two with a 233. In the process, Gibbens claimed CCC Player of the Year honors, holding a 77.46 stroke average over the course of the CCC season.
Gibbens’ teammate Bailey Borchers took second place (83-78-74=235), followed by Concordia’s Sara Molyneux (79-78-79=236).
Gibbens leads the seven-person All-CCC team, given to the stroke-average leaders over the course of the season. She is joined by Borchers, NCU’s Sarah Crofcheck, and four from conference champion Concordia; Molineaux, Samantha Webb, Sunny Powers and Holly Speer.
The CCC women’s championship was run concurrently with a broader NAIA National Qualifying event which was won by #3 California Baptist University. The Lancers earn an automatic qualification to the NAIA National Championship, May 17-20 in Greeneville, Tennessee.
Concordia, ranked #15 in the NAIA, finished second in the bigger event, followed in order by the four other CCC schools. Simpson University took sixth and Biola University came in seventh.
