SPOKANE, Wash. – Eastern Oregon University track and field student-athlete, Robbie Haynie, won the men’s decathlon at the Spokane Multi-Events Meet Wednesday.

Haynie finished with 6,762 points, 94 points ahead of the second place finisher. Haynie’s point total was 180 points shy of the EOU school record set by Lucas Ohmes in 2009. But, Haynie should easily qualify for the 16-participant decathlon field at the NAIA National Championships.

Haynie currently has the top point total in the NAIA this season by 304 points. The junior posted the best marks of the second day in both the discus (124'7") and the pole vault (16' 6.75"). His other marks Wednesday were the 110-meter hurdles (16.12 seconds), the Javelin (144' 11") and 1,500 meters (5:13.76).

Dustin Cloud posted the sixth-best point total so far this season in the NAIA with a fourth place finish in the decathlon with 5,892 points. Cloud ran 15.72 seconds in the hurdles, 5:04.79 in the 1,500 meters, threw 123'11" in the javelin, had a 10' 0" mark in the pole vault, and 97' 10" in the discus.

Allison Rodgers’ first attempt at the heptathlon netted her the ninth best point total in EOU history with 3584 points. It easily qualifies her for the conference meet. Rodgers’ top mark Wednesday was in the 800 meters with a time of 2:35.47. She finished second in the event. Her other two marks on the second day were 15' 6" in the long jump and 87' in the javelin.

The Mountaineers return to La Grande where they host the EOU Open Saturday. The events begin at 10 a.m. on the EOU campus.
