Oregon Tech Honors Seniors, Sweeps Eastern Oregon
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – On Senior Day, Oregon Tech honored its four seniors, Brittany Cherry, Bree Larson, Jackie Imhof and Andria Wheatley by sweeping Eastern Oregon University 8-0 in game 1 and also 8-0 in game 2. Both games were mercy rule shortened to 5 innings. Oregon Tech improved to 29-8 on the season and hold down first place in the CCC standings at 15-3. Eastern slips to 6-26 on the season and 1-17 in the CCC.
No. 17 Oregon Tech will host College of Idaho (21-13, 11-7) in a rare Sunday double-header tomorrow beginning at 11:00 am. The Yotes are tied for 2nd place in the CCC and were swept by Southern Oregon on Saturday.
In Game 1: Oregon Tech’s Jackie Imhof struck out 12, including 10 in a row and allowed only a 5th inning single by Ashlie Hughes which broke up her perfect game. Tech’s Janelle Cromie hit a Grand Slam Homerun in the 3rd inning to lead OIT.
Oregon Tech had only 7 hits but took advantage of 3 EOU errors in the win.
Jackie Imhoff improved to 14-4 and has now struck-out 157 batters in just 120 innings.
In Game 2: Oregon Tech hit 4 Homeruns and Taylor Schmidt went the distance allowing just 2 infield hits while striking-out 5 to improve to 15-3 on the season.
Oregon Tech hit back to back homerun’s in the first inning as Ashleigh Larson hit her 11th and Jess Plummer hit her 9th to put the home team up 3-0.
Brittany Cherry hit her 3rd homerun of the season, a blast to left field that scored 3 in the bottom of the 2nd to give Tech a 6-0 lead.
Bree Larson made it an 8-0 lead when she hit her 4th homerun of the season in the 3rd.
Oregon Tech now leads the CCC with 42 homeruns on the season.
