Rain in the Willamette Valley has forced today's CCC double header between Corban and Concordia to be moved to Sunday, May 1st.
Corban-Concordia Postponed Until Sunday
SALEM, Ore. – Corban University's head softball coach Nathan Ohta announced Thursday that today's Cascade Collegiate Conference double header between nationally-ranked Corban and Concordia has been postponed until Sunday, May 1st, at 2:00 p.m. due to rain in the Willamette Valley.
Warrior Field was hit earlier today with a hard rain storm that made the field unplayable and forced the two coaching staffs to discuss a possible make-up date. Due to Concordia's make-up double header against Northwest Christian tomorrow and the University's graduation ceremonies on Saturday, Ohta and CU head coach Carrie Kosderka-Farrell decided that Sunday would work best for both teams.
Sunday will be the final regular season games for both teams, as the final two playoff spots are still up for grabs between Concordia, Corban, The College of Idaho, and Southern Oregon. One win by Concordia this weekend will guarantee that the Cavaliers are in the playoffs, while Corban needs to either sweep or split with Concordia to wrap up its spot in the CCC Championship Series in Klamath Falls on May 6th and 7th.
Currently, Corban and Concordia are tied in the current CCC standings with both teams being four games behind regular season conference champions Oregon Tech.
