Tim Reavis finished with two hits for Concordia
Cavs Hold On to Beat Pacific 6-5

FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Concordia took a 6-2 lead into the bottom of the ninth and survived a final-inning rally by the host Boxers to pull out a 6-5 win Wednesday night at Chuck Bafaro Stadium.
With the win, Concordia improves to 9-20. Pacific falls to 15-11-1.
The Boxers opened the scoring with a run in the bottom of the fourth, when Logan Moen was hit by a pitch, advanced to second on a wild pitch and reached third on a groundout before coming home on another wild pitch. Pacific’s second run came in the sixth, when Mike Nagamine singled, advanced to third on an error and scored on a sacrifice fly.
Concordia scored a run in the fifth after Tim Reavis opened with a double and scored on Matt Zappoli’s sacrifice fly. The Cavs took a four-run lead with five runs on five hits in the seventh. With a runner on first and one out, Reavis and Ben Talbot hit back-to-back singles to load the bases, and all three advanced on a wild pitch that tied the game at 2-2. Zappoli followed with a double to left center to drive home both runners and give CU a 4-2 lead. Odie Hollingshed’s single brought home Zappoli, and after Tubbs was hit by a pitch both runners advanced on another wild pitch. Brady Miletich walked to load the bases and Tommy Whalen walked to force a run in and give the Cavs a 6-2 lead.
Pacific battled back in the bottom of the ninth, as the Boxers tallied five of their nine hits in the frame and fell one run short of tying the game. Chad Fahey singled to open the inning. Kevin Schwartz followed with a double and Moen singled through the right side to score Fahey. Rasmussen made it 6-4 with a sacrifice fly, and French followed with an infield single. Scott Rowland stepped to bat with the bases loaded and stroked a liner to the right side of the infield. CU second baseman Danny Brown snagged the liner and ran to second base to complete the game-clinching double play.
Larsen Kohler started the game and pitched three innings of one-hit ball before giving way to Jon Collier. Shayne Nakata picked up the win with an inning of relief, his second victory of the season. Sam Kaplan took the loss for Pacific, yielding five earned runs in 1.1 innings pitched.
Zappoli and Reavis each finished with two hits in the game, with Zappoli knocking in three runners. Schwartz and Trux French each posted a pair of hits for the Boxers.
Concordia returns to action Saturday, when the Cavs will face British Columbia in Vancouver, B.C., for the first two games of a four-game weekend series against the T-Birds.
