MONMOUTH, Ore. - The College of Idaho track and field team notched six NAIA National Meet qualifying marks tonight at the John Knight Twilight, hosted by Western Oregon University, at McArthur Field.

Four of the marks were notched in the grueling 10,000-meters – as Paul Sartin won the men’s race, breaking his own school record with a time of 31:17.25 – hitting the NAIA “A” standard with the sixth-fastest time in the NAIA this spring. Teammates Andrew Hugill (31:55.45) and Jason Hunt (32:11.76) also finished in the Top-5, hitting the NAIA “B” mark. On the women’s side, Kristine Smith won the race, establishing an NAIA “B” standard with her time of 37:59.97.

The C of I had two other automatic NAIA qualifiers – as Dominic Bolin recorded a personal-best time in the 1,500, placing third overall with his time of 3:55.12 – the 12th-fastest mark in the NAIA, while Sora Klopfenstein placed second in the women’s steeplechase, with her time of 11:21.81 the eighth-fastest in 2011.

Other big performances occurred in the field events, as Andre Archer broke his own school record in the triple jump for the second-straight week with a leap of 45-7 – closing in on the NAIA “B” standard by mere inches. Also breaking a record was Eulalia Kafari, who became the first Lady Yote to break the 100-foot mark in the discus with a heave of 105-7.

A trio of Yotes will compete Monday and Tuesday in Troutdale, Ore., at the Mount Hood Multi-Events. Austin Basterrechea will compete for the men, while Hailey Bull and Bri Williams will compete for the Lady Yotes.
