ZEBULON, N.C. – Former Corban University pitcher Jason Braun (Dallas, Ore.) was promoted to the Double-A Carolina Mudcats, as announced Tuesday by the Cincinnati Reds' organization marking the first time since 2008 that a Warrior has played professional baseball at such a high level.

Braun, who got the news Tuesday morning, moves from the Cincinnati Reds' Single-A team – Dayton Dragons – to the club's Double-A affiliate – Carolina Mudcats. Braun will join the Mudcats in Jacksonville, Florida, as the team is currently on a 10-game road trip that started last night.

Over the past two seasons, Braun has been a mainstay in the Dayton Dragons' bullpen and was promoted after allowing a mere one earned run in his last five appearances. In 8.2 innings of relief over his last five games, Braun has allowed one earned run on seven hits with a combined five strikeouts en route to registering an Earned Run Average (ERA) of 1.10.

So far this season, Braun has appeared in 13 games out of the Dragons' bullpen. The right-hander has given up 10 runs (all earned) on 25 hits in 22.2 innings for an ERA of 3.97 to go along with 15 K's. In the month of May, Braun has allowed five earned runs on 14 hits in 12.1 innings of work (3.72 ERA) with eight strikeouts.
