CLEVELAND, Ohio–

Boosted by a national champion in women’s track & field and another top-five performance from the men’s track team, Concordia University jumped four places to No. 12 in the latest NAIA Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings following the first set of spring championships.
The Cavalier track & field teams combined to score 175 of the school’s 226 spring points to end the year with a 531-point tally. The women’s golf team added 51 points after finishing in 13th place at the NAIA National Championships.
Sporting the CCC’s second national title of the spring, Oregon Tech moved up 67 places and into a tie for 57th place. The Owls collected 100 points from the NAIA title in softball and added 70 from their men’s and women’s track & field teams.
Joining Concordia in the top 30 were Eastern Oregon and Southern Oregon. EOU generated 127 1/2 points, including 68 1/4 off a top 10-finish in men’s track, from its spring sports for 26th place while SOU dropped from 21st to 28th with 94 1/2 points from track & field.
College of Idaho fell six spots to 50th overall and fourth place among CCC representatives. With OIT in 57th, the league has five schools inside the top 60 programs in the NAIA. Warner Pacific ended their competitive season with 53 total points and came in tied for 146th while Northwest Christian received 25 points from women’s track to earn a 173rd ranking as the CCC’s seventh representative.
Azusa Pacific (Calif.) is once again atop the NAIA Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings following the first set of spring championships. The Cougars most recently finished third in women’s tennis, fifth in both men’s tennis and women’s track & field, 13th in men’s track & field and 18th in softball to increase their point total to 1020.75.Shorter (Ga.) has moved into second place with 741.00 total points. The Hawks turned in a spring-high 427.00 points after placing first in men’s track & field, third in both women’s golf and women’s track & field, seventh in softball, ninth in men’s tennis and 20th in men’s golf.
Seven spring NAIA championships have been completed to date with the following institutions capturing titles: women’s golf – California Baptist; men’s golf – Oklahoma Christian; softball – Oregon Tech; women’s tennis – Auburn Montgomery (Ala.); men’s tennis – Fresno Pacific (Calif.); women’s track & field – Concordia (Ore.); men’s track & field – Shorter (Ga.).

The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 12 sports -- six women’s and six men’s.
