Oregon 6A Scoring Leader Kory Kirwan Signs with Concordia Hoops
PORTLAND,Ore.— After leading Glencoe High School to its first league title in 28 years, senior Kory Kirwan has signed a to continue his education and play basketball at Concordia University, head coach Brad Barbarick announced.
"We are very excited to bring in such a quality student-athlete like Kory Kirwan," Barbarick said. "Kory was one of the top players in the state of Oregon this past season. He brings a versatile skill set with inside and outside abilities. He demands excellence of himself in everything he does and will be a great fit as a student-athlete at CU.”
Tallying 615 points on the year, Kirwan led 6A in total points and ranked second in points per game after finishing with a 24.6-point average. A 6-foot-5 forward, Kirwan also grabbed nearly 10 rebounds per game for the Crimson Tide.
Glencoe finished the season with a 10-4 conference mark to qualify for the state tournament. Kirwan was named to the All-Pacific Conference first team en route to Pacific Conference MVP honors. He went on to collect Second-Team All-State Northwest Hoops and Oregonian honorable mention all-state accolades as well as being a McDonald’s All-American nominee.
Kirwan scored a season-best 41 points against The Dalles it the Lakeridge Holiday Tournament and had a pair of 20-rebound efforts during the season.
Kirwan was also a three-time letterwinner in baseball. Kirwan was a first-team All-Northwest Oregon Conference selection at first base and a second-team pick as a pitcher in helping the Crimson Tide to a Northwest Oregon League championship as a senior.
