SALEM, Ore. – Corban University's thirteenth-year head women's basketball coach Terry Williams was named Chuck Bowles Coach of the Year by the Salem Sports and Breakfast Club at the organization's end-of-the-year breakfast Friday.

The Chuck Bowles Coach of the Year award is presented annually to both a High School and College coach for significant professional achievement. The award was first presented in 1975 to Jim Boutin of Willamette University and has included such coaches as Tim Hills, Rick Adelman, Vic Backlund, Gordie James, Barry Adams, and Dan Hawkins.

Williams, who is the 36th recipient of the annual award, guided the Warriors' women's basketball program to its second Cascade Collegiate Conference regular season title after going 13-5 in league play and tying with rival Concordia. Williams and Corban went 19-11 overall last season that included seven wins in the final nine games of the year. For the second straight season, Williams guided Corban to the semifinal round of the conference's post-season tournament before falling to The College of Idaho.

During his tenure as head coach at Corban, Williams has amassed a career win-loss record of 202-184. Williams is the first coach in program history to surpass the 200-win plateau thanks to the Warriors' come-from-behind win over C of I, 77-75 in overtime, in February of 2011.

This is the second time in program history that Corban's head coach has received the award, as former head women's basketball coach Dave Bale was honored by the Salem Sports and Breakfast Club in 2007.
