EUGENE, Ore. – After the biggest turnaround in program history, expectations are running high for second-year head coach Brett Bentley and the Northwest Christian University men's soccer program. The Beacons registered a school-record seven wins in 2010 and will look to continue making strides with an incoming class of twelve new players, including seven freshmen and five transfers. Coach Bentley said, “We are very pleased to welcome these young men to NCU and to the soccer program. Each will fill an important role for our team and all should prove to be very competitive when it comes to playing time. This class is full of athletic and soccer-savvy players who will represent the Beacons well both on and off the field.” 2011 MEN'S SOCCER RECRUITING CLASS Isaiah Blake, 5-10, Freshman, Forward, Sweet Home, Ore. (East Linn Christian Academy) Blake is a physical and athletic player with the capacity to become very good at several positions. Vladyslav Boloban, 6-0, Freshman, Midfielder, Kharkov, Ukraine (North Eugene HS) Boloban is a sturdy attacking player who will immediately strengthen the front line. Josh Bramlett, 5-7, Freshman, Forward, Bellingham, Wash. (Squalicum HS) Bramlett is a dynamic and crafty player who will bring speed and skill to the front line. Hailing from Crossfire Soccer Club, he is expected to have great success at NCU. Travis Brown, 6-0, Junior, Forward, Grand Junction, Colo. (Mesa CC) Brown is a smart player who gives additional attacking options. His skills will immediately help the team. Jose Gonzalez, 5-8, Freshman, Midfielder, Eugene, Ore. (North Eugene HS) Gonzalez's speed and willingness to get in and tackle will give opposing players a lot to deal with. Joe Paulsen, 6-2, Junior, Midfielder, Gilbert, Ariz. (Mesa CC) Paulsen is a physically strong and technically gifted player who brings in a wealth of experience and talent. Chase Pearson, 6-1, Junior, Midfielder, Eugene, Ore. (Southwestern Oregon CC) Pearson is a smart, hardworking midfielder who will give us more creativity and composure in our midfield. Nick Peloquin, 6-0, Freshman, Midfielder, Yamhill, Ore. (Yamhill-Carlton HS) Peloquin is a solid playmaker. His versatility and athleticism will give NCU great depth in several positions. Andrew Poe, 6-0, Sophomore, Midfielder, Bellingham, Wash. (Skagitt CC) Poe is a player who will strengthen the Beacons across the board. He is a smart and talented player. Stephen Rock, 5-10, Junior, Defender, Seattle, Wash. (Shoreline CC) Rock is a tremendously gifted defender. His ability to read and anticipate the game will provide the experience that the Beacons need in 2011. Dusty Stephens, 6-0, Freshman, Goalkeeper, Happy Valley, Ore. (Clackamas HS) Stephens is a tall and athletic goalkepper that gives great depth and provides for competition at the goalkeeping position. From Eastside United Soccer Club, He is a great addition to the program and should develop into a top-notch player at NCU. Lorenzo Vasquez, 5-11, Freshman, Forward, Roseburg, Ore. (Roseburg HS) Vasquez is a well rounded player who is capable of playing anywhere on the field. His composure is beyond his years and should help the Beacons tremendously.
