BOX SCORE

SALEM, Ore. – Three different Corban's men's soccer players scored with freshman Josh Hamilton (Portland, Ore.) collecting three points via a goal and an assist, as the Warriors earned a season-opening 3-0 victory over Trinity International Thursday at Warrior Field.

With today's win, Corban improves to 1-0-0 on the season and helps head coach Paul Meehan remain unbeaten in season-openers for his career. Meanwhile, Trinity International starts its 2011 season at 0-1-0.

"It's good to see the guys get rewarded with a victory for accomplishing their goal of working hard and staying in the game at all times," said Meehan. "To get a shutout is crucial because getting a shutout means that you're not going to lose the game. Even though we made a few mistakes, we created opportunities that led to goals. Overall, I'm really pleased with our performance."

After a scoreless 29-plus minutes, Corban needed a mere 17 seconds to secure a two-goal advantage when junior Aaron Kinnes (Gladstone, Ore.) scored off a rebound at the 29:15 mark before Hamilton used some fancy footwork in the box before depositing his first career goal into the back of the net to put the host Warriors up by two goals at the 29:37 mark.

Corban would dominate the opening half, as the Warriors unleashed 10 shots versus Trinity International's two. Offensively, Corban would control each stages of the opening 45 minutes with the Warriors earning four corner kicks to the Trojans' one.

In the 79th minute, senior Devin Chaney (Helena, Mt.) would cap the game's scoring with his first goal of the season off an assist by Hamilton. The first-year Warrior would begin the play with a dribbling exhibition around TIU's defense before cracking a shot at goal that would deflect to the awaiting foot of Chaney, who deposited the ball into the back of the net for Corban's third score of the afternoon.

A three-goal lead would be more than enough for the host Warriors, as Corban used a strong defense that was anchored by sophomore goalkeeper Spencer Anderson (Glendale, Ariz.) in order to secure the shutout. Anderson would register three saves en route to collecting his first career shutout.

Trinity International was led offensively by Chad Spingetti, who collected three shots with two finding their intended target. TIU's Mitch Wiseman would register a game-high five saves en route to suffering the loss.

Overall, Corban would collect 13 more shots (18-5) than Trinity International and the Warriors would earn six more corner kicks (9-3) than their opponent.

Corban will return to the field on Tuesday, August 23rd, against Bethesda Christian beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Warrior Field in Salem.
