BOX SCORE

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – In its first of two games in the state of Montana, Corban's women's soccer team got goals from three different players en route to defeating the University of Great Falls, 3-1, Tuesday at Siebel Soccer Park.

Today's victory extends Corban's season-opening winning streak to two games, as the Warriors open 2-0-0 for the second straight year. Meanwhile, Great Falls begins its 2011 season at 0-1-0.

"It is always good to get the first road win," said head coach #Marty Ziesemer#. "I was pleased with how we created opportunities for ourselves. We were off on some of our shots, but that will improve throughout the season. I thought our defense played well."

The visiting Warriors would get a pair of first half goals from juniors Brittany Bowman (Shelton, Wash.) and Emily Tsugawa (Gladstone, Ore.), as sophomore Audrey Sullivan (Puyallup, Wash.) would assist on both goals with fellow sophomore Tera McDonough (Boise, Idaho) aiding Sullivan on Corban's second goal.

Bowman would open the game's scoring with her first goal of the season in the 21st minute off Sullivan's second assist of the season. Later, Tsugawa would net her team and conference-leading third goal of the season in the 29th minute off Sullivan's third assist and McDonough's second this year.

With a two-goal lead at halftime, Corban watched Great Falls cut its lead in half with a goal in the 52nd minute by Ashly Pezel off an assist by Quinn Wilson. The Argos' goal would come on their only shot of the afternoon to make the score 2-1 in favor of the visiting Warriors.

Corban added an insurance goal in the 60th minute when senior Rachel Cole (San Ramon, Calif.) netted her first goal of the season off Sullivan's third assist of the game and her team-best fourth this season.

Sophomore goalkeeper Alexis Beattie (Brea, Calif.) picked up her first win of the season despite registering zero saves, while Great Falls net-minder Sherry Blaisdell recorded a game-high seven saves to go along with one team save in the loss.

Overall, Corban registered 17 more shots than Great Fall (18-1) that included a 15-1 advantage in the second half. The Warriors also dominated the offensive side of the field collecting six more corner kicks (7-1) than the Argos.

Corban will return to the field on Thursday, August 25th, against the NAIA's No. 21-ranked Saints of Carroll College with kick off scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in Helena, Montana. This will be the Warriors' first of two non-conference games this season against nationally-ranked opponents, as Corban will take on Carroll before heading to California to go head-to-head with the nation's No. 9-ranked The Master's College in mid-September.
