Oregon Tech's Victor Corona Had 2 Goals in 3-2 Loss

(Klamath Falls, Ore.) Bethesda Christian University scored on a Penalty Kick late in the second half and held on to defeat Oregon Tech 3-2 tonight at Trevor Derrah Field. The Flames improved to 3-0 on the season with the win. Oregon Tech starts the 2011 season at 0-1 with the loss.
Bethesda came out of the box on fire taking an early 1-0 lead just 4 minutes into the game as Kevin Ruiz took a Brett Dean pass and scored from 25 yards out.
Brett Dean then made it a 2-0 game when he took a pass from Ernesto Bello and chipped in his shot from 7 yard out into an empty Tech goal.
The Flames would take the 2-0 lead into the half.
Oregon Tech’s Victor Corona scored just 12 minutes into the second half as he took a great pass from Ashton Betts and scored from 15 yards out into the bottom left corner of the net to make it a 2-1 game.
A questionable foul in the box in the 63rd minute gave the visitors a Penalty Kick and Cheunyong Park didn’t miss scoring in the lower left of the goal to make it a 3-1 game.
Oregon Tech’s Victor Corona made things interesting, scoring his second goal of the night. This time he scored from 25 yards out on a rocket that deflected off a defender for a goal that made it a 3-2 game with exactly 2-minutes to play.
A late fury of shots would go just off the mark and Bethesda would hold on for the 3-2 win.
The Flames out-shot the Hustlin’ Owls 23 –18 for the game and also held a slight advantage with shots on goal at 8-7.
Oregon Tech will next play host to George Fox University next Friday night September 2nd at 7:00 pm at Steen Sports Park.
