PORTLAND, Ore. – Trinity Western broke open a close game with three uanswered second half goals and earned a 5-2 win over Warner Pacific today at David Douglas High School.

The trio of scores came after WPC had tied the match at 2-2 thanks to a debutant goal from Almir Celebic. At the 58:51 mark, the freshman took a slotted pass from Jordan Selland and beat the Spartan keeper low and left. TWU took little time to respond however, as Brayden Grant received a pass at the 18 yard line fired in a near post strike. Just 90 seconds later, Ioannus Tsoulouhas scored his second goal of the half by shaking off a defender after a long pass and finishing from close range. Jason Wiens capped the day for TWU with a looping header after a corner kick.

Selland converted a penalty kick at 31:53 in the first period, which tied the game at that point. Spencer Schmidt had scored the game’s first goal for Trinity Western in the opening minutes.

The contest was the home debut for the Knights after a pair of earlier scrimmage games.

Warner Pacific returns to action on Thursday, September 1st at Pacific University in Forest Grove. Trinity Western travels across Portland tomorrow to face Concordia University.
