SALEM, Ore. – In its 2011 home opener, Corban's women's volleyball team served a school-record 24 aces in a three-set sweep over fellow NCCAA member Multnomah, 3-0 (25-4, 25-28, 25-11), Tuesday inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.

Senior Tiffany Land (Independence, Ore.) and freshman Claire Bailey (Santa Rosa, Calif.) registered a match-high seven kills each, while freshman Rebecca Shafer (Brea, Calif.) added six kills in the victory. Senior Megan Dees (Tehachapi, Calif.) and freshman Katherine Salness (Portland, Ore.) combined to hand out 30 assists with Dees registering a match-high 20.

Behind the service line, junior Chandra Baskoro (Gresham, Ore.) recorded a match-high eight service aces to go along with Salness' six. At the net, the Warriors combined for four blocks with Dees and sophomore Bethany Durre (Bend, Ore.) anchoring Corban's back row with match-high tying five digs each.

In the opening set, Corban fell behind 2-0 early after a service and attack error before using a 18-0 run to take control en route to winning by 21 points (25-4) behind the serving of Baskoro, who unleashed 18 straight serves that included seven aces.

The second set saw Corban grab an early 3-0 lead and never relinquished it behind the serving of Baskoro, Dees, and sophomore Brittany Sweet (Tumwater, Wash.) en route to earning a 17-point win (25-8). The Warriors served six aces in the set.

Set #3 was a see-saw battle over the opening six points until the score was knotted at 3-3. Corban would then use a 15-5 run en route to grabbing a 10-point lead (18-8). Multnomah would get into double digits for the first time following a Warrior service error before Corban was on the receiving side of a MU error. The Warriors closed out the set and the match on their 24th service ace of the night off the arm of Sweet for the final 14-point win (25-11).

Multnomah would get single kills from four different players – Melissa Miller, Malia Pearson, Krista Loughman, and Megan Collier – to go along with a pair of aces from Maimona Shafir and Miller. Shafir would also register a match-high tying five digs, while Pearson and Chloe Gillock each served up an ace in the match.

With tonight's win, Corban improves to 6-2 overall and Multnomah drops its season-opener falling to 0-1. The Warriors will return to action on Friday, September 2nd, in the team's Cascade Collegiate Conference opener against Warner Pacific beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Portland.
