Hillary Holt was one of four C of I runners in Top-9 at Idaho State
POCATELLO, Idaho - Placing four runners in the Top-10, The College of Idaho women's cross country team had an outstanding performance at the Idaho State Open.
Led by a fourth-place finish by Sarah Johnson (10:43) on the 3,000-meter loop on ISU's Centennial Course, the No. 5 ranked Lady Yotes ran a team time 30-seconds faster than the 2009 C of I squad that placed seventh at the NAIA National Championships, finishing second only to Big Sky Conference preseason favorite, Idaho State.
Sora Klopfenstein (10:55) placed sixth, Hillary Holt (11:01) placed seventh, and Kayloni Perry (Jones) took ninth (11:08) in the race for the Lady Yotes. ISU claimed the team title with 19 points, The C of I was second with 37, with Great Falls a distant third with 80.
The C of I men, competing without top runners Greg Montgomery and Dominic Bolin, struggled to a third-place finish, as Andrew Hugill was the top finisher in third (19:25) on the 6,000-meter course. Jason Hunt was the only other Coyote in the Top-10, placing seventh (19:50) - as The C of I mustered just three racers in the Top-15 in the three-team race. Great Falls claimed the team title with 32 points, ISU was second with 37, with the Yotes third with 55.
The Yotes return to action in two weeks, traveling to Spokane for the Erik Anderson Invitational.
