Forward Septi Danciu scored a pair of goals Tuesday against Corban, as nationally-ranked Concordia extended its season-opening winning streak to five games.
Concordia Defeats Corban in CCC Opener

SALEM, Ore. – A pair of first goals by the CCC's leading scorer Septi Danciu helped Concordia's nationally-ranked men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Corban in the league opener for both teams Tuesday at Warrior Field.
The NAIA's No. 14-ranked Cavaliers controlled the first half play unleashing nine shots to Corban's one, while netting a pair of goals with the first coming at the 4:21 mark when Danciu teamed with Tanner French. On the play, French would send a long throw-in to awaiting foot of Danciu for his team and conference-leading seventh goal of the season that put the visiting Cavaliers up by the score of 1-0.
In the waning seconds of the opening half, Danciu struck again with his second goal of the game off a rebounded shot from Facundo Dipascuale. The reigning CCC Offensive Player of the Year, Dispascuale, began the play with a rocket shot that was saved by Corban's diving goalkeeper only to fall to Danciu's feet before he deposited the shot into the back of the net for a two-goal halftime lead for Concordia.
The second half would be a played more evenly, as the two teams combined for 18 shots with Concordia holding the edge, 11-to-6. The visiting Cavaliers would have two ample opportunities to add to their two-goal lead only to have Corban's defense step up to the challenge and deny the scoring chances before their cross the goal line despite eluding the Warrior goalkeeper.
Overall, Concordia controlled the offensive play holding the edge in shots (20-to-7), shots on goal (11-to-3), and corner kicks (9-to-5). Corban would register eight more saves than Concordia (11-to-3) in a physcial game that featured 21 combined fouls and a pair of yellow cards.
Today's result would help Concordia extends its season-opening winning streak to five games improving to 5-0-0 overall and 1-0-0 in CCC games, while Corban falls to 2-3-0 overall and 0-1-0 in league contests.
Both teams will return to the field on Saturday, September 17th, when Corban visits The College of Idaho at 1:00 p.m. in Caldwell and Concordia travels to Olympia, Washington to take on Evergreen at 1:00 p.m.
