Tech Goalie Loren Jessen had 11 Saves in 4-0 Shut-out Win
(Klamath Falls, Ore.) Oregon Tech’s Sam Holcomb had 2 goals and Goalie Loren Jessen made 11 saves to preserve Oregon Tech’s shut-out 4-0 win tonight over Simpson University in non-conference action at Trevor Derrah Field. Oregon Tech improves to 2-3 on the season with the win. The Red Hawks slip to 1-5 with the loss.
Both teams started slow but Tech finally broke through for the game’s first goal in the 35th minute when Brandon Schoenmann scored the first goal of his collegiate career taking a Victor Corona cross and scoring in the upper left of the goal.
Sam Holcomb put the home team up 2-0 right before half as he took an Oscar Alonso-Ayala cross and scored while sliding towards the goal with just 46 seconds left before halftime.
Antonio Jaimes put away a penalty kick in the 59th minute to give OIT the 3-0 lead.
Sam Holcomb scored his second goal of the night as he took a pass from Alonso-Ayala and chipped in a shot while on the run to give Tech the 4-0 win.
For the game Tech had a 27-18 advantage in shots however Simpson held a 11-10 edge in shots on goal with OIT Goalie Loren Jessen making multiple athletic saves to keep the shut-out. Jessen had 11 saves on the night.
Oregon Tech (2-3, 0-1 CCC) will return to Cascade Conference play this Saturday night at 7:00 pm when they host CCC foe Northwest Christian University (2-3, 0-1 CCC) at Trevor Derrah Field.
