Concordia Takes the Men's Title and Northwest Christian Leads the Women at Raider Invite

ASHLAND, Ore. – Northwest Christian placed three runners in the top four and five in the top-10 to win the SOU Raider Invitational women’s race, while Concordia placed five in the top-12 to win the men’s race Saturday morning at Oak Knoll Golf Course.
Concordia’s Gina Paletta finished in 18:22 to win the individual title by 30 seconds over second-place Brittany Peterson of Northwest Christian. Ally Manley and Stephanie Hescock finished third and fourth to give NCU three of the top four runners, with Lauren Moran and Junia Limage placing fifth and sixth for Concordia.
The Cavaliers finished with 46 points to place second in the team standings, 19 points behind team champion NCU. Southern Oregon finished in third place with a total of 63 points, with Corban in fourth (83) and Warner Pacific in fifth (144).
On the men’s side, Matthew Clowes led Concordia to the team title, finishing in first with a time of 25:35.8. The Cavaliers also had Ben Foubert (fourth) and Marcus Nelson (fifth) finish in the top-five, tallying a team total of 31 points. Southern Oregon finished in second place with 42 points, led by Ryan Sorenson’s third-place finish with a time of 25:58.4. James Johnstone finished second in the individual race while running unattached.
Following Concordia and Southern Oregon in the team standings, a group of unattached SOU runners racing under the moniker Raider XC placed third (65), with Warner Pacific taking fourth (123), Corban fifth (146), Oregon Tech sixth (155) and Northwest Christian finishing seventh (164).
The Raider Invitational served as the 2011 Cascade Collegiate Conference championship preview meet, with the CCC programs scheduled to return to Oak Knoll Golf Course for the championship meet Nov. 5.
