SEATTLE, Wash. -Senior Seth Bridges (Anderson Island, Wash.) won the men's open 8k run at the University of Washington Sundodger Invitational cross country meet Saturday morning at Lincoln Park in West Seattle. Teammate Matt Porter finished 12th.

Bridges ran the distance in 24:19, seven seconds better than the next finisher and competed against 233 runners from California, Wisconsin, Oregon, California, Washington and Canada. Porter's time for the distance was 25:20.

"Seth put on one of the best performances of any men's cross country runner," said Eagle coach, Mark Mandi. "He showed great patience and amazing toughness pm his way to the win. It was one of the best performances I've seen as a head coach."

The NU women edged Seattle Pacific for 6th place in team standings. Joanna Sowers, Lindsey Wagner and Paige DeLapp all finished in the top 50 for the Eagles with Sowers the team's top runner.

Sowers, a freshman from Lacey, Wash., finished 19th out of 187 runners in the 6k run, finishing with a time of 22:45.31. Paige DeLapp came in 31st in the field with her time of 23:02.81 while Lindsey Wagner was 42nd in a time of 23:19.71.

"The women have come a long way since I've been at NU," said Coach Mandi, "and today, they displayed the best team performance in years. Joanna (Sowers) was poised beyond her years and just flat out knows how to race."
