Sacirovic Hat Trick Sends Warner Pacific to Victory Over Oregon Tech
BOX SCORE
PORTLAND, Ore. – Alija Sacirovic scored three goals for Warner Pacific, sending the Knights to a 4-0 win over Oregon Tech today at David Douglas High School.
The positive result for WP moves their record to 5-1-1 overall and 3-0-1 in Cascade Conferece play. Oregon Tech drops to 3-5 and 1-3.
Though Sacirovic filled up the scoring summary on the day, it was Tarik Subasic who put the Knights ahead early and scored the eventual game winner. The sophomore headed in a crossing pass from Brandon Tatum in the 13th minute to put the Knights ahead.
Sacirovic was the story from there and the senior forward was dangerous all afternoon. He found the net twice in the first period with header shots as well – in the 13th minute on a cross from Jameson Jones, and in the 22nd minute after a corner kick delivery from Tatum.
Oregon Tech found themselves on the wrong end of the scoreboard, but were hardly idle. The visiting Owls pushed forward to launch 12 first period shots, though only three were on frame and all saved by WP goalkeeper Drew Bonifacio.
Sacirovic capped off the scoring in the 56th minute by converting a penalty kick.
Bonifacio finished the day with eight saves as the Warner Pacific defense held on for their sixth straight shutout.
Oregon Tech out-shot the Knights 19-17, and held an advantage in corner kicks 5 to 4.
