Knights Start Season With Win at Lewis & Clark
PORTLAND, Ore. - The Warner Pacific women's soccer team started the 2011 season with a non-conference 1-0 victory at Lewis & Clark College at Griswold Stadium yesterday evening.
Anna Blakeslee scored the goal for the Knights (1-0) in the 55th minute, and the WP defense kept Lewis & Clark (0-2) off the scoreboard the rest of the way.
Warner Pacific had the run of play for much of the first half, outshooting the Pioneers 4-1. After the Blakeslee score early in the second period, L&C pushed forward and peppered WP keeper Nikita Rivera with 10 shots on goal. The junior was up to the task however, and made 11 total saves on the night to keep the clean sheet.
The shot tally finished at 14-7 in favor of Lewis & Clark, and the Pioneers had nine corner kicks compared to two for Warner Pacific.
