Concordia Crowds Conference Athletes of the Week
LA GRANDE, Ore. -- Concordia University had five athletes named Red Lion Cascade Collegiate Conference Athletes of the Week for the period ending Jan. 15, the conference office announced Monday.
The honorees:
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Oregon Tech’s Aundrea Albright, a 6-1 senior center from Central Point, Ore., has been named the Red Lion Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the period ending Jan. 15.
In a pair of Oregon Tech victories, Albright averaged 12.5 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks. The senior made 45 percent of her shots from the field, and 5-of-8 from the free-throw line.
Albright helped the Lady Owls win their sixth and seventh games out of the last eight contests with a pair double-double performances on the road. She scored 14 points in a 68-66 double-overtime win at Evergreen, including a shot at the end of regulation to send the game into overtime. Albright added 10 rebounds against the Geoducks.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Concordia University’s Adam Herman, a 6-6 sophomore forward from Vancouver, Wash., has been named the Red Lion Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the period ending Jan. 15.
Herman helped Concordia to a weekend sweep and receives the award for the second time this season. The sophomore totaled 52 points, 15 rebounds and five steals in last week’s games. Herman shot 72 percent from the field, 86 percent from the free-throw line and made all three of his three-point attempts.
Herman, who is first in NAIA Div. 2 in field goal percentage, was 10-of-16 from the field in a 78-76 comeback win over Northwest Christian Friday. The sophomore scored the final 10 points of the game over the last two minutes of play as Concordia came back to defeat NCU after being down by 19 with just over six minutes remaining. Saturday, Herman made eight of his nine attempts from the field in an 80-70 victory over Corban. He also grabbed 10 rebounds against the Warriors.

WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK
Concordia University’s NyEma Sims, a sophomore from Portland, Ore., has been named the Red Lion Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for the period ending Jan. 15.
At the University of Washington Indoor Preview, Sims posted a pair of NAIA auto-marks on Saturday. With 52 finishers in the event, Sims won the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.97, .58 faster than the next competitor from NCAA Div. 1 opponent Eastern Washington University.
Her converted time of 25.37 in the 200 currently ranks No. 8 in the NAIA, while her 7.53 in the 60-meter dash ranks No. 1 overall on the NAIA indoor performance list.

WOMEN'S INDOOR FIELD
Concordia University’s Kayla Xavier, a senior from Modesto, Calif., has been named the Red Lion Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for the period ending Jan. 15.
Xavier, the returning indoor and outdoor national champion in the shot put, opened her season with the NAIA's No. 1 toss in the event with a 47-9 (14.55m) at the University of Washington Indoor Preview on Saturday.
In addition, Xavier earned the NAIA's No. 4 mark in the weight throw after unleashing a 53-7 3/4 (16.35m), a mark good for No. 2 on Concordia's all-time performance list. Xavier easily gained the NAIA ‘A' standard in both events.
MEN'S INDOOR TRACK
Concordia University’s Jasen Brown, a freshman from Brewster, Wash., has been named the Red Lion Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for the period ending Jan. 15.
Brown placed fifth overall behind a pair of runners from the University of Oregon and an athlete from the University of Washington in the 600-meter dash on Saturday at the University of Washington Indoor Preview.
Brown's time shattered the school record in the event and stands as the No. 3 performance in the event on the NAIA indoor performance list after a conversion to 1:22.18.
MEN'S INDOOR FIELD
Concordia University’s Bo Johnson, a junior from Toledo, Ore., has been named the Red Lion Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for the period ending Jan. 15.
At the University of Washington Indoor Preview, Johnson opened the season with an NAIA Provisional mark in the weight throw after launching a 54-3 3/4 (16.55m).
Johnson's fifth-place effort was the first non-NCAA Div. 1 performance and good for No. 13 on the NAIA indoor performance list.
