LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference has opened the application process for the conference’s commissioner position.

The position is open until filled, however application materials should be submitted by Feb. 15, 2012, to ensure full consideration. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2012. Finalists will be interviewed at the NAIA Convention April 12-16 in Newport, Calif. Only applicants providing all required material will be considered.

The Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC), an affiliated member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) invites applications for the position of Commissioner. The Commissioner reports to the Conference Council of Presidents and is responsible for the management of all conference related activities.

The CCC is comprised of ten institutions throughout the Pacific Northwest. The CCC is an organization established exclusively for the education of student-athletes. The CCC promotes, organizes, and supervises intercollegiate athletic competition among member schools in a way that encourages competition to be wholesome, fair, amicable, enjoyable, and educational.

The Commissioner is responsible for the management and administration of the CCC and shall provide essential services and oversight to the membership in the areas of, but not limited to: sports information and media services; championships; legislation; player, coaches, staff and team awards; tournaments and special events; conventions and meetings, as well as marketing and promotion.

In addition, the Commissioner supervises conference staff (sports information director, head statistician and eligibility coordinator); develops and monitors budgets; ensures compliance with all relevant rules and regulations pertaining to the Conference and the NAIA and directs sponsorship activities to benefit the entire membership.

The successful Cascade Conference Commissioner must demonstrate success in, and commitment to, the following key professional and personal attributes:

* Demonstrate a commitment to the core values of the CCC & NAIA which are rooted the Student-Athlete experience and expressed through the “Championship of Character” program;
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with many different constituencies;
* A strong marketing, sports information, and media background and ability to implement progressive public relations strategies;
* An expert in fair-minded conflict resolution practices;
* The ability to develop and secure corporate partnerships and fundraising from private sources;
* The ability to program and plan large venue events and the ability to successfully bid for NAIA National Championships; and,
* A level of personal integrity that is beyond reproach.

A Bachelor’s degree is required for the position. A Master’s degree is preferred. Candidates must have significant relevant administration experience in collegiate athletics, or similar field, marketing and fundraising. Supervision and understanding of sports information is highly desirable. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work well with diverse groups of individuals are critical.
