No. 2 Oregon Tech Holds Down College of Idaho
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Second-ranked Oregon Tech threw together a stifling defensive performance, holding College of Idaho to a season low 46 points in front of a packed house at the 3rd Annual “Pink Out” game tonight at Danny Miles Court.
Oregon Tech defeated the C of I 64-46 in Cascade Conference action to move to 20-2 overall and 9-1 in the conference standings. College of Idaho fell to 7-15 on the year and 2-9 in the conference standings.
Oregon Tech stormed out from the opening tip as back-to-back treys from David Clarke and Bobby Hunter capped a 15-0 run to start the game.
Sydney Donaldson finally put College of Idaho on the board to make it 15-2 at the 12:15 mark.
The Owls would eventually move out to a 22 point advantage, 28-6, before settling for a 29-14 lead at the break.
College of Idaho closed to within 12 on two occasions early in the second stanza, the last at 33-21 with 16 minutes to play, but that was as close as the home team would let it get.
Tech’s Fred Corpening lifted the Owls to their next 20 point advantage on a jumper nearing the midway point, as the home team didn’t look back.
With Tech still holding a 54-37 lead, an 8-1 run gave the Owls their largest lead of the night on the way to the 64-46 final.
In a game where 11 Oregon Tech players scored in tonight’s win, freshman guard Bobby Hunter finished with a game-high 18 points, followed by David Clarke with 11. Kyle Gomez and Scotty Riddle would combine for 15 points and 14 rebounds.
Sydney Donaldson led C of I with 12 points, while Krispin Banks added 10 in the loss for the Yotes.
College of Idaho ended the game shooting 41% from the floor (16-for-39), while Oregon Tech shot 49% on 22-of-45 overall. The Owls finished 7-for-14 from long range and C of I 4-for-14, with the Owls holding a 32 to 19 edge in rebounds.
