Cascade Conference has Five Teams in National Top 15
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference has a total of five teams in the top 15 in the latest NAIA Div. 2 women’s and men’s basketball Top 25 polls released Monday.
The Oregon Tech men (22-3, 11-2 Cascade Conference) moved from No. 1 to No. 2 after falling at Concordia Friday, 81-66. OIT rebounded with a 78-69 win at Warner Pacific the following night. The Knights (18-5, 10-2) dropped from No. 8 to No. 10. Northwest (21-2, 11-2) remained No. 11 in the poll after grabbing its road sweep over Eastern Oregon and The College of Idaho.
Southern Oregon is six spots out of the top 25 after a road split. The Raiders (15-9, 8-5) received 22 votes. Eastern Oregon is 13 spots out of the top 25 with three votes. Last week, SOU had 45 votes and the Mountaineers (14-8, 7-6) had three.
In the women’s poll, Eastern Oregon (19-4, 11-2) remained at the school-record high No. 8 ranking. The Mountaineers were able to hold off Northwest and The Evergreen State College. EOU, winners of six straight, has won the past three games by a combined five points, and four of the past five contests by four points or less.
Eastern travels to Corban University (16-5, 10-2) Friday in a battle between a pair of top 15 teams, and for the top spot in the conference standings. The Warriors went from No. 14 to No. 13 following their wins at Evergreen and Northwest Christian University. The College of Idaho (15-7, 10-3) has won four consecutive games and is four spots out of the poll. Warner Pacific College (15-8, 9-3) received 12 votes in the poll, and Oregon Tech (19-6, 8-5) had eight votes.
