CALDWELL, Idaho - Stephanie Carr slotted home a rebound of her own shot in the 97th minute, lifting Southern Oregon to a key 1-0 victory over The College of Idaho at frigid Simplot Stadium.

Box Score

The win for the Raiders (9-5-1, 5-2-1 CCC) keeps their Cascade Conference Postseason Tournament hopes alive heading into their Sunday finale at Eastern Oregon. The loss by the Lady Yotes (5-7-1, 4-4) eliminated the squad from playoff contention.

In the extra session, Southern played a 50-50 ball over the top of the Coyote defense, finding Carr, who drove a shot into C of I keeper Melissa Holmes-Joseph, who knocked it down, but could not collect the ball. Carr pounced on the opportunity, took one touch, and drove home the empty-netter to give the Raiders their third overtime win in seven chances this season.

The opening 45 minutes was fairly even - with SOU getting Carr free in the ninth minute, but was turned away by Holmes-Joseph, while a header by an unmarked Devhan Morgan for the Yotes off a corner kick in the 26th minute just missed high.

The C of I came out and dominated the first 10 minutes of the second half, as in the 51st minute, Brianna Blair took a through ball 30-yards out and drove a shot that Katelyn Allen had to make a nifty save to keep the game scoreless. The tide shifted in the 60th minute, as Carr put a shot off a corner kick on goal, but Jessica Ayala cleared it off the line. In the 77th minute, Lauren Maserjian roped a shot that clanged off the left post, rolled along the goal mouth, before being cleared by the Yote defense, while with four minutes left in regulation, Julie Zamzow lined a shot off the crossbar from 30-yards out.

Southern held a 20-7 edge in total shots - including a 16-4 edge after halftime, while earning eight of the 11 corner kicks on the afternoon. Allen made two saves on four shots in the win for SOU, while Holmes-Joseph had eight saves for the Yotes.

The C of I closes out the season tomorrow, hosting Oregon Tech at Noon - the final home match for five seniors - Ayala, Brittney Lacey, Kayla Bigelow, Anabel Maldonado, and Natasha Rooney.
