KIRKLAND, Wash. – Northwest University registered their third straight pre-season win with a 79-55 victory over Thompson Rivers University (Kamloops, B.C.) tonight in a non-conference contest.

Aided by 51% first half shooting, NU slowly pulled away and took a 41-25 lead at halftime. The Eagles cooled a bit in the second half but their defense took over limiting TRU to 30 second half points.

Three Eagles scored in double figures for Northwest U. (3-0) led by Michael Russo’s 19 points. Ryan McIntosh scored 14 points and Michael Greene contributed 12 points and a team high 8 rebounds. NU shot 43% for the game and out rebounded TRU 39-35. They handed out 19 assists and only turned it over 6 times.

TRU (1-5)  was led by Brett Rouault’s 19 points and Blaz Bozinovic’s 8 points. The Wolfpack had 14 turnovers and shot 42% for the game.

"I was pleased with the win because it was another team effort tonight," said Coach John Van Dyke following the game. "19 assists shows we're sharing the ball and 6 turnovers indicates we're also taking care of it, too, which is a credit to the team. We improved again tonight and we'll look forward to practice next week and our next game."

NU will take to the road and travel to northern California next week for a two game tournament at Cal State Maritime in Vallejo. The Eagles will face William Jessup on Nov. 2 and then the host CSU Maritime Keelhaulers on Nov. 3.
