Concordia's No. 3 Ryan Candella dribbles past Oregon Tech's No. 17 Casey Oltman
No. 21 Concordia Downs Oregon Tech 4-1
(KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.) -- Concordia University scored two goals in each half and out shot Oregon Tech 27-6 to win the Cascade Conference match 4-1 Saturday afternoon at Trevor Derrah Field. Concordia moves to 7-0 in Conference play with the win and 8-2-1 on the season. Oregon Tech slips to 0-6 in CCC play and 0-9-1 on the season with the loss.
The Cavaliers got on the board in the 8th minute as Jared Brace took a Septi Danciu pass and scored on the ground from 15 yards out.
Oregon Tech looked to have a sure goal in the 17th minute when the Cavaliers’ keeper was pulled away from the goal and a shot into an empty net was turned away by a clearing header by defender Matt Eronemo.
Septi then made it a 2-0 Concordia lead as he took a long 60 yard pass from Gerrit Hamann, controlled the ball and chipped past the keeper in the 20th minute. The 2-0 score would hold at the half.
The Hustlin’ Owls came out of the break with much more intensity and got on the scoreboard just 3 minutes into the second half when Rey Chavolla took a pass off a throw in from 18 yards out and scored past the Concordia keeper to make it a 2-1 game with 42 minutes to play.
Concordia answered just 3 minutes later as Jared Brace scored his second goal of the game, taking a pass from Radcliffe McDougald and scored in the 51st minute making it a 3-1 game.
Danny Morato then put the game away scoring his first goal of the season as he took a Michael Chamberlain cross and scored from 25 yards out giving Concordia the 4-1 win.
CU out shot OIT 27-6 and had a huge 14-3 advantage in shot on goal.
Oregon Tech will next host Northwest University (6-4-1, 4-3 CCC) at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, October 9 at Steen Sports Park. Concordia will travel to Salem, Ore. to play Corban University (4-4-3, 3-3-1 CCC) on Tuesday at 3:00 pm.
